Prudnik combines historic sites with circular routes for different interests. In town, paths pass by sights and historic sites; there are also marked routes for longer tours in the broader destination of Prudnik. The town’s architectural history is also on display: the Church of St. Michael the Archangel features distinctive interior details, while Wieża Woka recalls the former castle fortress. You can choose which routes and places to include in your plans based on the balance of city history and activity you’re looking for.

City History and Notable Buildings

The 4.5-kilometer Prudnicki Szlak Miejski is a circular route that you can start at any point. It passes Prudnik’s sights, streets, and historic sites. This offers a different way to explore the area than the longer routes that pass through several places in the broader destination.

The three-nave Church of St. Michael the Archangel has an interior gallery connected to the choir and tower. Its furnishings also include a Baroque altar with two cherubim and a figure of Christ in the upper section. Wieża Woka, also called Wieża Zamkowa, is Prudnik’s oldest monument and the only surviving remnant of a 13th-century castle fortress. The fortress was built by Wok z Rożemberka, a Czech nobleman and knight who founded Prudnik.

The 41-meter-high Woka Tower offers panoramic views of Prudnik and the Góry Opawskie. As of September 2026, the tower is closed indefinitely until the necessary structural repairs are completed. Check its current status before including it in your plans.

Circular Routes and Cycling Paths

For a longer route through historic landscape sites, take the blue Szlak Historyczny Lasów Królewskiego Miasta Prudnik. It is 17.5 kilometers long and runs from Park Miejski past Prudnik’s ancient oaks, Kapliczna Góra, Kobylica, Dębowiec, and Rozdroże pod Trzebiną to Sanktuarium Św. Józefa in Prudnik Lesie. The route returns to the park via Prudnik (Lipy). Check current trail conditions locally.

The green Wokół Lasu Prudnickiego – Pętla I cycling loop is 17 kilometers long. It runs from Prudnik through Łąka Prudnicka, Moszczanka, Wieszczyna, and Dębowiec, returning to Prudnik. By comparison, the historical route described above is half a kilometer longer and has a different course and focus. Before setting out on a cycling trip, check the current condition of the surface and route.

In the broader destination of Prudnik, additional routes expand the options: Pętla II is a 13.5-kilometer cycling route that passes Sanktuarium św. Józefa, Rozdroże pod Trzebiną, and Dębowiec before returning to Prudnik. The Prudnik–Jindrichov cycling route is ten kilometers in total, seven of them within Prudnik municipality; it runs via Dębowiec and across the Polish-Czech border to Jindrichov and is marked in blue and green. A 15-kilometer cycling route to Moszna starts at the Stanisław-Szozda roundabout in Prudnik.

The Broader Destination of Prudnik

At the broader destination level, Prudnik municipality lies at the foot of the Opawskie Mountains, a small range in the Eastern Sudetes. It is located in the Opawskie Mountains Landscape Park and its buffer zone, directly on the border with the Czech Republic. The landscape associated with the municipality includes the mountain massifs of Góra Parkowa, Długota, and Kobylica, as well as Biskupia Kopa, which also forms a distinctive backdrop to Prudnik.

The broader destination has a 35-kilometer network of multifunctional tourist trails with signposted routes and numerous rest areas featuring tourist maps. The M. Orłowicz Trail is considered the main trail of the Opawskie Mountains and the Polish Sudetes, and starts at Prudnik railway station. For a different kind of tour, there is a specially marked yellow bridleway: it is eleven kilometers long and runs between Moszczanka and Sanktuarium św. Józefa in Prudnik municipality.

Sanktuarium św. Józefa is also a historically significant place: Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński was interned here in 1954 and 1955. If you’d like to combine cultural sites with longer routes, this distinction can help with planning: the city loop stays within Prudnik, while the cycling and riding routes mentioned include other places in the broader destination.
