Market Square, Castle and Town History
Namysłów’s rectangular market square measures 142 by 70 metres, with ten streets leading off it. Namysłów Castle took on its present form from 1360 onwards, on the orders of the Bohemian King Charles IV. He also financed part of the town’s fortifications. The castle is located on the grounds of Namysłów Brewery, so access may be restricted. The brewery is also part of the town’s history, with a brewing tradition dating back seven centuries.
Another historical landmark is the railway connection from Wrocław (Breslau) to Namysłów. The first line was completed on 17 May 1868; on 20 May 1868, the first locomotive made a ceremonial arrival at Namysłów station. These dates tell the story of transport development at the time, not the current timetable.
Mill Museum and Religious Diversity
The Muzeum Techniki Młynarskiej displays original milling equipment. The museum focuses on Namysłów’s town mill, first mentioned in the 14th century. In 1418, it was moved outside the fortifications to the medieval “Mill Island.” Four waterwheels were powered by the Młynówka, a tributary of the Widawa. Visits are possible by prior telephone arrangement; the listed opening hours are Tuesday to Friday from 9:00 to 17:00 and Saturday from 9:00 to 13:00.
In Namysłów, the Szlak różnorodności religijnej leads to the churches of Saints Peter and Paul and St. Francis. Its stops also include a memorial to the former Protestant Church of St. Andrew and the former synagogue, which now houses a sports hall. The associated municipality is also home to the Izba Regionalna, a cultural centre in a former Protestant school building dating from 1789.

At Żaba, Młyńskie Stawy is a birdwatching spot: waterbirds such as swans, coots, herons and cormorants regularly live there. An observation tower stands on the shore of one of the ponds.
Further nature and cultural destinations lie in the wider travel area: on the Szlak Miłośników Przyrody, you can stroll along avenues and observe numerous birds. The Szlak Drewnianych Kościołów begins at the church in Woskowice Małe. In the hamlet of Świbne near Woskowice Górne stands a historic granary built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. These destinations add a range of impressions from the wider area to a visit to Namysłów, without suggesting that they form a single route.

For water activities, Michalice Reservoir is a separate option north of the town. The “Delfin” leisure and indoor swimming pool is equipped for people with disabilities and is open Monday to Sunday from 6:00 to 22:00.
