Nowiny: Hotels and Accommodation

The Bagno Serebryskie nature reserve is a 376.62-hectare peat bog reserve. It is an important habitat for around 150 bird species, including the globally threatened Aquatic Warbler and Corn Crake, as well as around 300 butterfly species. Bagno Serebryskie is also considered a habitat unique in Poland for rare butterfly species.

Two observation towers have been built along the nature trail in the Bagno Serebryskie peat bog reserve. The nature trail in the Bagno Serebryskie nature reserve also features limestone-marked stopping points that are suitable for observing the birds in the reserve.

Hiking

The „Stańków“ nature trail is located in the southeastern part of Chełmski Landscape Park. It begins at the Stańków Reservoir and leads through the forests of the Chełm Forest District to Nowiny, passing historic foresters’ houses, huts and a former seed-processing facility along the way. There is also a shorter version of the „Stańków“ nature trail, approximately 2 km long.

History

In 1827, Nowiny was a folwark within the Uher estate. In the 19th century, Nowiny developed into a German colony.

In 1935, the Dominican Stanisław Szalast founded a home in Nowiny for single and sick men under the patronage of Saint Paschal; today, it is a Dom Pomocy Społecznej.
