A visit to the Baszta Zamku KsiÄ…ĹĽÄ…t Mazowieckich can be planned around set opening times during the summer months: from June to September, the tower ruins are open to visitors on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. On other weekdays, organised groups can visit the ruins by prior arrangement with the Muzeum Ziemi Rawskiej. If you would like to include this historic site in your plans, be sure to distinguish between the weekend opening hours and a group visit arranged in advance.

Museum and City History

The Muzeum Ziemi Rawskiej is a regional museum with five departments: archaeology, ethnography, history, numismatics and art. This range offers a variety of ways to explore the region. Visitors interested in the history of everyday life can see “Wnętrze izby rawskiej z początku XX wieku” among the permanent exhibitions; the “Gabinet numizmatyczny” exhibition focuses on numismatics. Both are part of the museum’s permanent collection.

The Jatki miejskie also tell the story of Rawa Mazowiecka’s architectural and social history. Built in the 19th century, the building is listed in the register of historic monuments. It was extensively renovated between 2018 and 2020 and adapted for the Muzeum Ziemi Rawskiej. The building houses the Muzealna Pracownia Edukacji Regionalnej and the Pracownia Etnograficzna. These two workshop and education spaces provide suitable facilities for workshops and educational activities. At the Jatki, the building’s historical significance meets its present-day role as a place for museum work.

City Park and Landscape

The historic city park, dating from the 19th century, lies on the River Rawka. During the Duchy of Warsaw, it was considered one of the most beautiful English-style parks. Today, it is described as comprising both landscaped green spaces and wild vegetation protected as a nature reserve. The park covers just over five hectares and is notable for its high biodiversity. Travellers wishing to include nature and historic garden design in their plans will find a different focus here than in the museum’s departments.

The city park’s revitalisation in 2017–2018 involved several works: paths were laid, a wooden bridge was restored and a playground was modernised.

Zalew Tatar is a distinct landscape feature: the reservoir, surrounded by woodland, covers more than 50 hectares. For travellers choosing what interests to pursue, it offers a body of water and a wooded landscape alongside the museum and park.

Cycling in the City

The first section of a cycle route project in Rawa Mazowiecka has been completed. The project aims to create a connection from the Zamkowa Wola residential area to Zalew Tatar through the historic city centre. The completed section makes cycling around the city easier.
