Krakow Festival invites for the Sacrum Profanum festival 2011

Polish cultural capital invites you to one of the brightest festivals in Europe, representing an organic fusion of contemporary and classical music, the main musical event of the coming autumn in Poland, the Sacrum Profanum Festival 2011, which will be held in Cracow from 11 to 18 September.
This year the festival Sacrum Profanum will be held in Kraków on the day of the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and will be dedicated to the American musical style minimalism and the 75th anniversary of the birth of the icons of this genre, the composer, which had an enormous influence on the modern music of the United States, the owner of the Pulitzer Prize - Stephen Michael Reich.
Sacrum Profanum Festival 2011 will include four separate projects. «Modern Classic» will present its guests the music by Steven Reich and hid friends, such as John Adams, Terry Riley, David Lang, Julia Wolf and Michael Gordon. «Made in Poland - Miłosz Sounds» will present the most recent works of the five youngest composers of the modern Poland: Paweł Mykietyn, Agata Zubel, Jagoda Szmytka, Aleksandra Gryka and Wojciech Ziemowit Zych in a magnificent interpretation of the best musical performers of contemporary music, such as the Ensemble Modern, Alarm Will Sound and Bang on a Can All-Stars. The project «Debiuts» will be dedicated to the young musicians, who began their careers on the stage. «Freak» will be held on the Polish plant of the largest steel company ArcelorMittal and will become a new landmark of the festival.
At the festival will perform such famous musicians as Steve Reich, Jonny Greenwood, Aphex Twin, Adrian Utley, Tom Verlaine, Will Gregory, Leszek Możdżer, Envee, Pianohooligan, Agata Zubel, Synergy Vocals, Alarm Will Sound, Alan Pierson, Asko | Schönberg, Etienne Siebens, Ensemble Modern, Brad Lubman, Klangforum Wien, Bang on a Can All-Stars and Amadrums.

Photo month festival begins in Krakow
