Nature and culture in Krutyń
The Galeria nad Mukrem at the Centre for Nature and Cultural Education hosts exhibitions on nature and historical and cultural topics. The nature chamber complements these perspectives with six themed dioramas. The habitats depicted include forest, lake, the Krutynia River and meadow; the dioramas show animals from these different environments. This brings regional cultural themes and nature together in one place to visit, without limiting you to just one of these interests.
The temporary Stork Rehabilitation Centre is also part of the Mazurski Landscape Park’s nature education programme in Krutyń. It has been operating there since 2001 and is also an important nature education site. It is currently temporarily pausing admissions for new bird patients. Nature education is therefore another aspect of the site, alongside the exhibitions in the historic barn.
Hiking trail, cycling route and the Krutynia
If you would like to explore Krutyń on foot, you can follow the 20 km Szlak im. Karola Małłka hiking trail, which passes through the village. By bike, the Rezerwaty Krutyńskie route runs from Krutyń to the Krutynia Górna and Królewska Sosna nature reserves and back. In the forest at the fork in the road from Krutyń to Lake Mokre stands the Dąb Krutyński, a natural monument oak. It is a pedunculate oak with a circumference of 530 cm and a height of 25 m.
