Historic Sites Around Łęknica

Łęknica is part of the municipality of Srokowo. Two 19th-century cemeteries offer travelers interested in local history specific points of reference around the village. Their shared historical period links the sites, while their locations point in different directions. One cemetery lies southwest of Łęknica, along the forest road to Skandławki. The second is about 700 meters to the south, beside the paved road toward Srokowo and where it meets a forest path on the former narrow-gauge railway embankment. A railway embankment is a raised base for tracks.

The former railway embankment also gives the southern location a connection to transport history. For travelers who view historic sites in relation to their surroundings, two layers come together here: the cemeteries’ dating and an earlier transport link. At the southwestern location, by contrast, the forest road toward Skandławki is the defining point of reference. The distance of about 700 meters should be treated as a rough guide. Cycling and Recreation in the Municipality

Cycling offers another point of reference for planning, this time at the municipal level: the Green Velo East Cycling Route runs through the municipality of Srokowo. Łęknica is part of this municipality, so the route provides a regional context for your trip. Its geographic scope differs from the specific locations of the cemeteries.
