Gmina Lubaczów: Discover Culture and History
Accommodation in Gmina Lubaczów
In Lubaczów, different facets of cultural history come together: town hall architecture, traces of a castle complex, exhibitions about the region, and stone tombstones connected with folk art. The park and museum also each have their own focus. When planning your trip, you can start by asking whether you are more interested in architectural styles, regional history or commemorative culture.

Town hall architecture and traces of historic buildings
The town hall stands in a continuous row of buildings on the western side of the square. The plastered brick building has an upper floor and a gable roof covered with sheet metal. Its L-shaped floor plan encloses a courtyard. These features give the architecture a clearly defined character: the choice of materials, roof shape and layout offer different points of interest if you are interested in historic architectural styles. In 2011, the town hall was entered in the heritage register of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship under registration number A-568.
The castle-and-park complex preserves another layer of history. It contains the oldest traces of a castle complex at the Sołotwa and Lubaczówka rivers, as well as remnants of earlier small-town wooden and stone buildings. The site thus brings together evidence of a castle complex and the remains of different building types. If you enjoy exploring several historical themes side by side on cultural trips, you will find a different perspective here than in the clearly defined architecture of the town hall.
Park and museum: the history of the region
The park in the castle-and-park complex is used for recreation and leisure. It also hosts cultural events and educational activities about the history of the region and the Kresy of the former Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. This combination of leisure use and cultural activities gives the park a different focus from the architectural and heritage sites. Before planning your visit, check which activities are scheduled.
The Muzeum Kresów in Lubaczów features permanent and temporary exhibitions about the Lubaczów region and the former Kresy of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The exhibition themes offer another way to put regional history at the heart of your cultural itinerary. As details of temporary exhibitions may change, it is worth checking which exhibition is currently on before your visit. Its focus differs from that of the architectural heritage: here, the emphasis is on exhibitions and their historical themes.
Heritage conservation and folk art
The church and bell tower complex is another part of Lubaczów’s architectural history. It is located on Grunwaldzka Street and was entered in the heritage register of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship in 1988 under registration number A-316. The town hall and church complex are therefore two distinct architectural points of interest; their register entries date from different years and have different numbers.
Another way to explore the region’s cultural history is through the epidemic cemetery in Lubaczów. Its stone tombstones preserve the legacy of folk art from the stonemasonry workshops of Brusno Stare, which were active until the 1940s. Unlike the buildings and exhibitions, this site focuses on the stonemasons’ work and their tombstones. You can therefore choose which cultural themes to explore according to your interests: architecture, traces of historic buildings, exhibitions or stone examples of folk art.
