Cycling and experiencing the landscape

The Powiat Wodzisławski Cycling Route is numbered 316 and is 53 kilometers long. It runs from Wodzisław Śląski to Olza. One described section runs from Gorzyce through Osiny to Czyżowice, where the route reaches Szwajcaria Czyżowicka, also known as Cza-Cza. This means you can pair the cycling route with a specific landscape destination. The 53-kilometer length is a useful guide when considering how much of your trip to devote to the ride.

Szwajcaria Czyżowicka is a picturesque forest complex in the village of Czyżowice. Gentle hills and small ponds define the character of the area. Visitors who want to include nature experiences in their trip will find here a different theme from the cultural and mining destinations. Stawy Wielikąt also offers an opportunity for birdwatching: entering the ponds is prohibited, but the birds can be observed from bays along the Lubomia–Buków road. Pilgrimage and sacred architecture

For travelers interested in religious sites, Kalwaria Pszowska and the nearby sanctuary in Pszów are important destinations. Both are among the popular pilgrimage sites in Silesia. Kalwaria Pszowska comprises a church and fourteen Neo-Baroque chapels depicting the Stations of the Cross. The number and design of the chapels give the site a clear thematic focus.

In Pszów, the Basilica of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is housed in a church built in 1747. Since 2002, the basilica has officially been the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Smile. In Buków, the wooden Rosary Chapel dating from 1770 adds to the region’s sacred architecture. It is located on the Silesian Wooden Architecture Route. Visitors interested in historic churches and chapels can make these places separate priorities in their travel plans without centering their entire stay on a single destination.

Turza Śląska is also associated with monthly religious events: at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima, nights of penance and reparation are held on the night of the 29th to the 30th of each month; days for the sick are held there on the 13th of each month. Mining history and leisure activities

In Wodzisław Śląski, the Górnicza Sztolnia Ćwiczebna recalls the city’s mining traditions. It also serves as an unusual local history museum and invites visitors to experience the atmosphere of a real mine. The underground workings are about 500 meters long and contain mining machinery and other equipment. The City Museum in Wodzisław Śląski Castle offers a different historical focus: its exhibition covers the history of the city and the region from prehistory to the present day.

An earlier chapter of mining history can also be seen at the Wieża Widokowa Jan in Pszów. The observation tower is a former mine shaft tower on the grounds of the former Anna coal mine. Its highest observation platform is more than 23 meters high. The site thus combines the former use of the grounds with a present-day observation structure, while keeping the industrial past in view.

The Rodzinny Park Rozrywki “Trzy Wzgórza” offers more active leisure options. The site covers 24 hectares and has several dozen facilities. These include a treetop adventure course with zip lines and other rope obstacles, as well as cycling tracks for BMX racing, slopestyle, dirt jumping and pump track.
