Zwonowice was initially a forest hamlet and belonged to the Cistercian monastery in Rudy from 1260.

Culture
The Matki Boskiej Różańcowej Church in Zwonowice was built in 1909 to replace an earlier chapel. It was extended and consecrated on 6 September 1931. The present-day church in Zwonowice was consecrated on 31 May 1989, on the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, by the Bishop of Katowice, Damian Zimoń.
Zwonowice is home to the hunting lodge in Zwonowice, which dates from the mid-19th century. It is a brick building with a T-shaped floor plan, Neo-Gothic features, and a three-storey polygonal tower with a crenellated parapet.
