Hiking trails and stages around Koszarawa

One description of the yellow hiking trail leads west from Koszarawa to the student mountain hut on Łosek (868 m), then via Przyborów to Korbielów at the foot of the Pilsko Massif (1,557 m). Another description of a yellow trail gives the eastward direction, with Lachów Groń (1,045 m), Czerniawa Sucha (1,062 m) and Jałowiec (1,111 m). The two descriptions can be distinguished primarily by their direction and the stops they mention: the western route lists a hut, an intermediate place and a destination, while the eastern one names three high points. The green hiking trail starts in Hucisko, passes through Koszarawa Cicha, then continues via Czerniawa Sucha (1,062 m), Klekociny Pass (864 m), Mędralowa (1,168 m) and Babia Góra (1,725 m) to Jabłonka. Czerniawa Sucha also appears in the eastbound yellow trail description: there it is named as a direction, while on the green trail it is a stop along the route. Another named excursion is the “Między Łoskiem a Prusokiem” Quest. It starts in the car park by the Church of St. Charles Borromeo in Koszarawa and is described as a mountain route. Ankle-high shoes and comfortable clothing are recommended. The excursion is intended for children, young people, families with children and adults. The stated nature of the route and the equipment recommendation are both relevant when planning. Woodcraft and historical landmarks

Koszarawa is one of the places with one of Poland’s oldest traditions of wooden toy-making. Later, other wooden household items were also made there. The progression from toys to everyday objects broadens the picture of this tradition: it encompasses not just a single product, but also wooden items for the home.

The parish of St. Charles Borromeo in Koszarawa was established in 1824; the brick church was consecrated in 1855. It is late Neoclassical in style and has a rectangular layout. Its furnishings include four wooden altarpieces with gilded friezes, garlands and rosettes. The founding year, consecration and architectural details provide several specific chronological and architectural reference points for the village’s history.

The cemetery also preserves historical details: it contains a surviving tombstone from 1887 and a historic statue of the Virgin Mary. Together with the church and the wooden toy-making tradition, these landmarks complement the hiking trail descriptions with a different perspective on Koszarawa.
