Reservoirs and Forest Landscapes

Ruski Bród, a village in the municipality of Przysucha, lies in the Garb Gielniowski upland, in a bend of the Radomka River and at the heart of the large Lasów Przysuskich forest complex. This gives the forest landscape a specific geographical setting: it is connected to a named village, an upland and the course of a river.

The Radomka and Wązownica rivers also flow through the municipality. The Lasów Przysuskich forest complex lies in the southwest, along with the “Puszcza u źródeł Radomki” nature reserve. It protects species-rich forests with a near-natural character. Alongside the waterways, forests and nature conservation are therefore separate options to consider when planning a trip.

Museum, Architectural History and Religious Heritage

The Oskar Kolberg Museum in Przysucha provides insight into Kolberg’s life, his scholarly work in ethnography and folklore studies, his musical work and his ties to Przysucha. These topics offer different ways to explore Kolberg: through his research, music and connection to the town. The museum is housed in a historic manor house built by the Dembiński family in the second half of the 19th century.

The educational programme also combines different approaches to learning. It uses original exhibits and includes age-appropriate ethnographic workshops led by folk artists for school students. If you plan to include such an activity in your trip, check the specific booking arrangements in advance.

The present-day Church of Saint Wojciech stands in Skrzyńsko. It was built between 1760 and 1768, funded by Karol Szydłowiecki. It is considered the oldest Marian shrine in the Radom region. The church houses an image of Our Lady of Staroskrzyńsko, which attracts many pilgrims. The building’s history and Marian devotion give this place two distinct historical points of reference.

Jewish history is also one of the prominent themes in Przysucha. The synagogue is considered a valuable monument of late Baroque synagogue architecture, the only example of its kind in Masovia and one of the most significant in Poland. The graves of Jaakow Icchak Ben Ascher and Symcha Bunim are located in the Jewish cemetery; they became pilgrimage destinations for Hasidim. Christian Marian devotion and the Hasidic pilgrimage tradition thus stand side by side as distinct religious themes.

The municipality’s tourist infrastructure includes accommodation and the Topornia and Nieznamierowice reservoirs.

Zbożenna offers another historical perspective, about 6 km from Przysucha. There, a manor house dating from the late 18th century stands surrounded by a park. Compared with the museum manor house in Przysucha, this reveals a difference in the dates of construction: the building in Zbożenna dates from the late 18th century, while the museum building dates from the second half of the 19th century.
