Discover Neusalz: local history, cycling routes and the Oder

Neusalz (Nowa Sól) is a town with a rich history and interesting architecture. There are also green spaces, cycling routes, cultural activities and waterside pursuits. Green spaces and cycling routes

Kacza Górka Park in Nowa Sól is a 14.5-hectare green space with a body of water. It is a place for walks and relaxation, offering a concrete counterpoint to longer tours. Two differently described routes are also worth considering when planning a cycling trip: the yellow Czarciego Kamienia Cycling Route is 65 kilometres long and starts and ends in Nowa Sól. The approximately 58-kilometre “Kolej na rower” Cycling Route comprises the Stypułów–Nowa Sól and Nowa Sól–Sławocin sections. These sections are connected by a network of urban cycling routes.

If you would also like to consider cycling or BMX options during your stay, the town offers further specific possibilities. The BMX racing track in Nowa Sól is 360 metres long. The BMX skatepark is described separately: its BMX track is considered one of the largest in Poland and is characterised as meeting Olympic standards. The rope park has several courses of varying difficulty.

Activities in town

Other places in Nowa Sól cater to a range of interests. Nadodrzański Recreation Park is considered a place for active recreation. Wakeboarding is offered as a watersport at WakePark. Soluś stands in Park Krasnala; he is described as the world’s largest dwarf and is listed in the Guinness Book of Records. When planning, you can weigh up whether you would rather combine outdoor activities, watersports or a visit featuring a striking attraction.

Sightseeing boats dock at the harbour in Nowa Sól. Trips on the Oder are possible along the Nowa Sól – Cigacice – Bytom Odrzański – Głogów network of tourist harbours. This means you can consider a river trip as a separate part of your itinerary. A nearby point of reference for your destination is the “Visit Nowa Sól” Tourist Information Centre at 2 Korzeniowskiego Street, in the vicinity of the harbour and the Oder.

Museum and culture

The Muzeum Miejskie in Nowa Sól displays the permanent exhibition “Wnętrza mieszczańskie”. The museum’s education department offers museum lessons, workshops, educational trails and guided tours. The department also works with local educational institutions and prepares annual competitions for children and school students. The Muzeum Miejskie’s “Noc Muzeów” traditionally takes place on Friday evenings.

Another cultural venue is Magazyn Solny, a space for cultural events and social initiatives. Together with the museum, it offers a different perspective on the town from its cycling and leisure activities.
