Oder Valley and forest landscape

Krosno Odrzańskie is described as the main centre of the Middle Oder Valley. The surrounding landscape includes bends in the Oder and numerous oxbow lakes; forests cover 52 per cent of the municipality. In the eastern part of the municipality, the Gryżyński Landscape Park covers 342.6 hectares. It protects the scenic features of the glacial valley of the Gryżyński Potok. Also in the eastern part of the municipality, near Szklarka Radnicka, lies the Rynna Gryżyny PLH 080067 Natura 2000 site. These varied landscapes offer several possible focuses for your trip: the river landscape, forest areas or the protected glacial valley.

Compare routes by length and type

There are routes of varying lengths to choose from for a circular trip starting in Krosno Odrzańskie. The black forest trail, the PTTK Szlak Leśny, is 33.5 kilometres long and passes through Bielów, Czetowice, Budachów, Bytnica, Struga and Łochowice before returning. The red Szlak Przeszłości is a shorter circular route at 15.4 kilometres: it runs through Bielów, Lake Gnilec, Lake Glibiel and Łochowice to Kamień and back. If you are looking for a cycling route, consider the 65-kilometre route through Bytnica, Gryżyna, Grabin and Radnica; it starts and ends in Krosno Odrzańskie. Another option is the 14-kilometre red Nordic walking route. It connects Krosno Odrzańskie with Piast Castle, Marcinowice and Osiecznica, then returns to the starting point. The Nadodrzański Trail runs from Krosno Odrzańskie through Połupin, Ciemnice, Laski Odrzańskie, Nietków and Czerwieńsk. It is designated as a hiking, nature and cycling trail. For a trip on the water, a 60-kilometre kayak route follows the Oder from Nietkowice through Radnica, Krosno Odrzańskie, Osiecznica and Połęcko to Szydłowo. There is also a landing stage for waterway tourists at the river port.

City history and culture

Piast Castle in Krosno Odrzańskie stands on the site of the residence of Henry the Bearded, dating from the early 13th century. It is considered one of the valuable castles in Lubusz Voivodeship. The historic furnishings in St. Jadwiga’s Church reflect different periods: they include a Baroque organ case, a neo-Gothic baptismal font and a painting from the beginning of the 20th century. One bell dates from 1710; other furnishings and tomb monuments date from the 16th to the 19th century. Noc Muzeów is also a cultural event in Krosno Odrzańskie. Festiwal Jadwigensis is regarded as one of the city’s important cultural events.

The municipal bathing area is located at Lake Glibiel in Łochowice. It is a popular place for recreation and is also used by people from outside the municipality of Krosno Odrzańskie. The lakes and rivers thus offer a travel experience in their own right, alongside river routes and trails through forests and countryside.
