Rębiszów lies in one of the most picturesque parts of the Jizera Mountain foothills. Forests, ponds and places with very different histories give your stay several distinct themes. If you are looking for accommodation, you can first consider whether you would like to focus on nature and walks or on architectural and industrial history. The village’s distinctive features range from an ancient lime tree to a basalt loading facility.

Forests, Ponds and Flooded Quarries

More than 40 percent of Rębiszów’s area is covered by forests. The forests are well suited to walks, mushroom picking, birdwatching and cycling. You can plan your day in nature in different ways: take a walk, look for mushrooms, watch birds closely or go for a bike ride. The Stawy Rębiszowskie pond complex is an important part of the local ecosystem. The flooded former quarries are also destinations for local outings. This means that forest activities, an ecologically significant pond complex and former quarries to visit offer distinct ways to enjoy nature.

The Cesarska Lipa Through the Seasons

The Cesarska Lipa is a broad-crowned lime tree several hundred years old and is considered a symbol of Rębiszów. It is a destination for walks; in summer, it provides a naturally shaded place to rest. In autumn, its leaves stand out for their colour. This gives you a specific seasonal difference to consider when planning your trip: in summer, the shade offers a place to rest, while in autumn, the striking foliage catches the eye. Alongside the historic church and the industrial Moloch, the lime tree adds a natural accent.

Church, Jubilee and Industrial History

The Church of St Anthony dates from the 16th century and features late Gothic and Renaissance elements. Alongside the Cesarska Lipa, the Millennium Cross commemorates the celebrations of the jubilee year 2000. The “Moloch” basalt loading facility offers a very different perspective: its stark industrial architecture makes it an important testament to the region’s mining and transport history. Rębiszów’s cultural themes thus range from historic church architecture and a memorial to the year 2000 to regional industrial history. The church and the Millennium Cross mark two points in the village’s history that are far apart in time.

A Walk or a Longer Hiking Route

The blue Rębiszów–Pobiedna hiking route, described as new, is 17 km long. It provides an option for a longer hike, distinct from a walking destination such as the Cesarska Lipa. The forests add cycling, mushroom picking and birdwatching to these options, so each activity offers a different focus rather than prescribing a single itinerary. Rębiszów gives you reasons to include nature and history in your trip, depending on your interests.
