Culture and History
On 17 May 1428, Ujazd received its town charter from King Władysław Jagiełło. The town held town rights from 1428 to 1869.
The palace of Antoni Ostrowski was built in 1812 on the site of an earlier 17th-century palace. This earlier palace was built by Kasper Denhof, who in turn used the walls of a destroyed castle. The palace in Ujazd can be viewed from the outside.
St. Wojciech's Church in Ujazd was built in 1674–1676 at the initiative of the Archbishop of Gniezno, Andrzej Olszewski. In 1892, a Baroque family chapel-mausoleum of the Ostrowski family, designed by the architect Konstanty Wojciechowski, was added to it. The church contains a Rococo pulpit brought from Italy between 1810 and 1818, and has Rococo altars and an Ostrowski chapel. As a Baroque church, it also has a bell tower built in the 18th century in the Classical style.
St. Anna's cemetery chapel is protected in the heritage register.
The Grunwald Trail leads from Wolbórz through Ujazd to Lubochnia.
Experiences
Mikrokosmos in Ujazd features more than 50 giant sculptures of bacteria, viruses, and fungi. It has educational trails with explanatory information about insects and microorganisms. Mikrokosmos also has aviaries with live exotic birds, as well as a pond with black swans, ducks, and geese.
