Culture and History

At the centre of the medieval urban layout lies Rynek Trybunalski. The historic townscape also includes the Royal Castle, which was built between 1511 and 1519. Today, it houses the Museum in Piotrków Trybunalski, which has around 17,000 objects from the fields of archaeology, history, ethnography and art.

The Great Synagogue of Piotrków Trybunalski was built between 1791 and 1793. Together with the Small Synagogue, it now houses the State Archives in Piotrków Trybunalski. The Wielu Kultur Route is a 1,273-metre-long circuit highlighting historic buildings and places connected with Piotrków Trybunalski's multicultural past. It runs from the former station of the Warsaw–Vienna Railway to the former building of the Great Synagogue.

The local beer history also goes back a long way: the oldest surviving written mention of beer from Piotrków Trybunalski dates from 1487.
