Polichnowo can be considered in your travel planning particularly in relation to two themes: cycling routes and historical traces. Two different route references are relevant for cyclists: a section of the WTR passes through the village; Polichnowo is also a waypoint on a black cycling route. One reference describes a section between two named places, while the other indicates the village’s position on a longer route.

Cycling routes as a guide to choosing your route

The right-bank section of the WTR between Włocławek and Bobrowniki is 16 kilometres long and passes through several named places, including Polichnowo. This identifies both the endpoints and the length of the section. If you are planning a cycling trip through Poland, you can use this information to place Polichnowo on a specific stretch of the WTR and compare the route details with the other stops in your plans.

The black cycling route connects Toruń, Osiek, Bobrowniki, Zaduszniki and Dobrzyń n. Wisłą. In Polichnowo, a designated waypoint is located at kilometre 44.1; the route was marked in 2012. Unlike the reference to the 16-kilometre WTR section, the kilometre marker locates the village along this route. These are two different types of orientation for an overview of the routes: a named stretch between Włocławek and Bobrowniki, and a numbered point on the black cycling route.

Bus services and getting around the village

In 2025, there were four bus stops on county road 2044C in Polichnowo. If you are planning your journey or individual trips by bus, check the current services before travelling.

Historical traces in Polichnowo

The wooden house at number 14 is one of the village’s historic structures. It dates from around 1840. A wayside cross on plot 276/1 dates from the first half of the 20th century and was renovated after 2000. The house and the cross therefore represent different periods in the village’s history: one is a 19th-century building, the other a cross from the first half of the 20th century.

Archaeological associations also form part of the picture of the village. Polichnowo is home to the archaeological settlement site “osada, st. 1” and the findspot “ślad osadniczy, st. 6”. The name Polichnowo 1 is associated with an early modern settlement phase from the 17th and 18th centuries. Polichnowo 2 is a settlement of the Bell Beaker culture from the La Tène period. The two names therefore refer to different archaeological classifications and periods.

When choosing a destination, you can weigh this information according to what matters most to you: the village’s position on one of the named cycling routes, or its historical and archaeological associations.
