Culture and History

In the Middle Ages, the residents of Szczytniki made protective shields, initially for the retinues of the first Polish rulers and later for the armed units of the Greater Poland dukes. This activity is associated with the town's name.

Szczytniki is considered the place of origin of the Szczytnicki family, which derived its surname from the town's name. The oldest surviving written mention of the town dates from 1386. It names the owner at the time as Jan ze Szczytnik, actually de Sczitniky.

Surroundings

Several destinations classified as castles are located in the vicinity of Szczytniki: Kórnik - Renaissance Castle, Rogalin - Palace and Kromolice - Palace. A zoo called Poznań is also located nearby. The Wielkopolski National Park, a national park, lies in the wider area around Szczytniki. Dziewicza Góra is a hill in the wider regional surroundings of the town.

Cycling and Leisure

The Kórnicki Pierścień Rowerowy is a cycling route approximately 60 km long that runs around the municipality of Kórnik and heads towards Szczytniki. The route description continues from Kamionki towards Szczytniki along a paved road.

On June 26, a new leisure area was opened in Szczytniki at Przystań Rowerowa. It includes table football, a table for checkers and Mensch ärgere dich nicht, as well as a Teqball table as its main attraction.

Getting Around

There is no clear boundary between Szczytniki and Koninko. This can make it more difficult for arriving visitors to find their way.
