Culture and history

The church in Huta Szklana dates from 1774. It is an example of the 18th-century sacred half-timbered architecture characteristic of the border region between Greater Poland and Pomerania, and one of the oldest surviving monuments in the municipality of Krzyż Wielkopolski.

The origins of Huta Szklana are connected with a glassworks that already existed there in 1709. In 1716, an order issued by the commissioner of the Wieleń estates led to the founding of an Olęder village in the area of present-day Huta Szklana.

Huta Szklana is located on the former road from Trzcianka to the bridge over the Drawa near Łokacz. It was once used to transport cloth produced in the workshops of Trzcianka to Brandenburg.

Landscape

The Człopica River flows through Huta Szklana and belongs to the Warta river basin. The settlement plots of Huta Szklana were laid out along a stream flowing from Żelichowo, which is now called Człopica.
