Festival of Polish Music in Krakow, which is held annually under the honorary patronage of the Mayor Jacek Maikhrowsky, will take place in the cultural capital of Poland, from 5 to 11 of November.
Musical repertoire of the Polish Music Festival, which will be held this year for the sixth time, will include not only the songs of Polish composers, but also world-renowned foreign musicians. At different times, Polish Music Festival received such world-famous musicians as the American group Kronos Quartet, internationally renowned violinist Nigel Kennedy, Akiko Suwanai, Piers Lane, Peter Jablonski, Jonathan Plowright, Gregory Zhislin and St. Petersburg House of Music, London Symphony Orchestra and many others.
The traditional part of the program of the current VI Festival of Polish music will include the famous works of world-known composers. Nevertheless, many musical compositions, which will be performed at the concerts this year, will be historic premieres of forgotten songs and songs considered to be lost. Also a part of the musical repertoire has been specially created for the VI Polish Music Festival and, according to organizers, will promote the popularization of Polish music and culture worldwide. Besides, at the festival will be held a series of seminars of Professor Helena Lazarskaya "Chopin and Paderewski"
VI Festival of Polish Music will be opened on November 5 in the Krakow Philharmonic by piano concerto of Frederic Chopin performed by the winner of the XVI International Piano festival of Frederic Chopin - Francois Dumont. The program of this festival of Polish music will include performances of London Symphony Orchestra, ancient music of the British band Retrospect, Viennese quartet Hugo Wolff Quartet, The Baltic Opera and "HalkÄ…" of Stanislaw Moniuszko directed by Ewelina Pietrowiak. Particular attention deserves an organ concert performed by Mikolaj Zielenski, Emma Kirkby, soprano, Joel Frederiksen, bass and John Jan Tomasz Adamus, organ, which will be held on Saturday 6, November at the Church of the Franciscans.
Closing of the festival of Polish music will be held on November 11.
