After long and exhausting work on organizing the event Krakow presented one of the most impressive and anticipated exhibitions of Poland - "Schindler's factory - Krakow during the Nazi occupation (1939-1945)".
During World War II Krakow district Podgorze became one of the most famous Jewish ghetto in Poland. Thousands of Jews living in Krakow were subjected to persecution and extermination. A new exhibition is devoted to the life of the Jewish people during the German occupation. Part of the exhibition presents the life of German industrialist Oskar Schindler, one of the few who realized the horrors of Nazism, saved Jews during the Holocaust.
A unique exhibition opened its doors to the public on June 11 at the «Emalia» factory in Krakow, which belonged during the Second World War to Oskar Schindler. The exhibition is located in the administrative building of the former factory and takes almost a half thousand square meters. The huge space is completely renovated and turned into a network of mazes, which represent different periods of life in Krakow during the Nazi occupation. According to organizers, exhibition is a unique modern museum space with the highest level of interactive exhibits.
On the first floor of the museum is located one of the major exhibitions devoted to the heroes, fighting to save Polish Jews from death during the Holocaust. Here is situated the Hall of temporary exhibitions, a bookshop and a small cafe for a rest.
The second floor of the museum is devoted to the exhibition of life of Krakow during the period from 1939 to 1945, and a small cinema.
The third floor houses a display dedicated to directly Oskar Schindler, as well as his cabinet. Part of the exhibition devoted to the fall of the Nazi regime, as well as the famous Oscar-winning Steven Spielberg's "Schindler's List".
